The ablative laser can treat array of lesions from epidermal to dermal exophytic miscellaneous conditions with precise results. Ablative lasers (CO2 and Er:YAG) are the mainstay for the therapy, though vascular specific laser like long pulsed Nd:YAG has a role in few conditions, but cannot destroy the tissue to the extent of ablative lasers. The older conventional CO2 laser has undergone tremendous modifications to short pulsed scanned CO2 lasers with minimal thermal damage and good clinical outcome. This chapter encapsulates the various indications of ablative lasers, choosing right technique with practical tips for optimal outcome. Specific indications like dermatosis papulosa nigra, seborrheic keratoses, verrucae, acrochordon, verrucae, Fordyce spots, etc. are also explained. CO2 laser is also used in various other indications like acne keloidalis nuchae, papular scars and fibroepithelial polyp because of efficient hemostasis. Postlaser instructions, sequelae, and side effects are also described.
