Mole removal is one amongst the commonly performed dermatosurgical procedures. Mole or a melanocytic nevus is a benign cluster of melanocytic nevus cells arising as a result of proliferation of melanocytes at the dermoepidermal junction. Method of mole removal depends on type, size, location and anticipated depth of the lesion. Types of mole surgery are radiofrequency surgery, dermabrasion, cold steel surgery, shave excision, scissor excision, punch excision surgery, etc. Excision and closure surgery is performed as excision and closure, one of the basic dermatosurgical skills, is the gold standard technique for mole removal. Postoperative care in mole surgery, complications of mole surgery, congenital melanocytic nevi, etc. are also described in the chapter.
