Abstract

Psychological assessment also known as psychological testing is the process through which psychologists try to understand a person through a sample of his behavior obtained under a structured environment. Parents, teachers, and employers have always informally used limited observations of a person’s behavior as clues to broader performance capabilities. Psychological tests can be broadly classified into four types following as clinical interview, tests of intelligence, tests for personality assessment, and behavioral assessment. Purpose of psychological tests, characteristics of a good psychological test, uses of psychological tests, role of nurse in administration of psychological tests, and implications of psychological test in nursing are also discussed in this chapter. In this chapter, short essay type questions and multiple choice questions along with their answer key are also provided.
