Abstract

This chapter discusses the side effects, contraindications and precautions of progesterone. Side effects of progesterone are genitourinary, nervous system, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, psychiatric, respiratory, dermatologic, ocular, hepatic, endocrine and metabolic, immunologic, local, and other. Contraindications of progesterone are undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, Active deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism, active or recent arterial thromboembolic disease (e.g. stroke, myocardial infraction (MI), thrombophlebitis, or cerebral apoplexy, liver disease or dysfunction, and peanut hypersensitivity.
