Abstract

This chapter addresses the issue of fetal growth restriction (FGR) starting with the case history, examination, and investigations. Pertinent questions related to the issue are given in this chapter along with their crisp and to the point answers. Routine abdominal checkup may not detect FGR. Suspicion is required in low-risk patients. In high-risk patients, Doppler studies are required from second trimester. Symmetrical and asymmetrical terms are not used. Instead early and late onset FGR are used FGR are used. When end diastolic flow is present delivery can be delayed. Absent and reverse diastolic flow is associated with increased perinatal mortality and morbidity.
