Abstract

This chapter discusses short experiments for efficacy and safety. These experiments are demonstrated to students, so that they get an idea of how efficacy and safety of drugs is tested in animals. This chapter also provides four experiments, i.e. evaluate analgesic effect of drugs on rats using tail flick method, evaluate antidepressant effect of drugs on mice using despair behavior test, evaluate adverse effects of drugs on mice using Rota rod apparatus, and evaluate antianxiety effect of drugs on rats using hole board test. Every experiment has procedure, calculations, and exercise, which are helpful better understand. Each experiment has one table and figure also, which is also helpful for students and readers.
