Perimetry is the evaluation of visual function at a given instance of time. Static and kinetic perimetry are different ways to plot the visual fields. The stimuli in static perimetry are at fixed locations and vary in intensity to plot the visual field. The kinetic perimetry has different sizes of stimulus moving from not seeing to seeing to plot the visual fields. This chapter discusses static perimetry, which is now widely used in clinical applications. This chapter covers the definition, terminologies and principles in visual field perimetry, measurement strategies, program and test points, systematic interpretation of a single field report, and interpreting visual field change. Visual field is the area seen when the eye is steadily fixated at a point at that instant. Visual field is always measured with standard conditions of background illumination and color.
