Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to focus on the difficulty to write. The first question to the patient is whether the difficulty is exclusively for writing or also for other activities with the hand like mixing food, eating, brushing, shaving, etc. The latter is part of motor weakness affecting the hand which can be seen in several situations like UMN paresis, LMN paresis, Parkinson’s disease, etc. Exclusive difficulty in writing is a “task specific” condition and occurs due to Focal dystonia and writing tremor.
