Abstract

The nursing process is defined as the application of critical thinking to client care activities. Traditionally, nursing process is defined as a systematic method of assessing health, diagnosing health care needs, drawing a plan of care, implementing this plan and finally evaluating the effectiveness of plan of care. The use of nursing process helps the student nurses to behave as professional trained nurses. Nursing process also provides a means for evaluating the quality nursing care delivered by nurses and assures their accountability to the consumers. This chapter covers the assessment step, nursing diagnosis, the planning step, the implementation step, and the evaluation step.
