Handbook of Pain Management: A Case-based Approach

by Jitendra Jain

The Handbook of Pain Management: A Case-based Approach is an excellent attempt to fill the void of incomplete management of pain. International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) defines “Pain is an unpleasant sensory and/or emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage”. This book consists of seven chapters, which include introduction to pain management, pathophysiology of pain, assessment and diagnosis of pain, acute pain management, cancer pain management, non-cancer chronic pain management, and special situations in pain management. This book is an attempt to simplify these changes for our doctor fraternity. Simplified approach to diagnosis and treatment will also help them initiate control of pain early. This would be very useful in managing and alleviating pain of patients to improve quality of patient care.
