Abstract

This chapter seeks to familiarize the readers with routes of drug administration. Drugs can be administered either by local or systemic route. Drugs can be administered systemically either by enteral or parenteral route. Local route is one of the simplest routes. The drug is given at the site of desired action. Systemic route include enteral route and parenteral route. In external route drug reaches the blood and produces system effects. They can be oral, sublingual, and rectal route. In parenteral route drugs administered other than enteral route. Drugs administered by injection, inhalation, and transdermal route. At the end of this chapter, there are 16 questions are also given along with their crisp and to the point answers.
