Abstract

This chapter covers discussion on anthelmintics and drug used in scabies and pediculosis. Anthelmintics are common in developing countries most commonly in people with poor hygiene. Mebendazole cures roundworm, hookworm, pinworm and strongyloides. It also destroys eggs and larvae. Mebendazole bind to Beta-tubulin and inhibit synthesis of microtubules. They are also essential for several metabolic processes. Scabies caused due to S. scabiei or Ascarus scabiei. They are common in people with poor hygiene and transmitted easily by close body contact with infected person. Benzyl benzoate, permethrin, lindane or gamma benzene hexachloride are the drugs used in the treatment of scabies. Pediculosis is caused by louse pediculus humanus.
