Abstract

Nature has always been the object of human thought. Throughout history, there have emerged two distinctive points of view—the philosophical religious and the scientific. These have very different interpretations and understandings of the world and human beings. According to the first point of view, Nature is considered to be a subject, which provokes both human fear and admiration at the same time. On the other hand, the relationship toward Nature as an object, as some scientists see it, has produced an instrumental and even exploitative relationship of human toward it. This chapter covers the relationship between science and religion, modern science in scientific-technological sense, the relationship between a modern man and nature, the theology of nature, and Islamic perspective.
