RSSDI Yearbook of Diabetes 2017

by Sujoy Ghosh

This RSSDI (Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India) yearbook focuses on diabetes. Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose gets into your cells to give them energy. With type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. The goals of the book are to be current, to be compact, to make the information accessible, and to be understandable by students of medicine of all ages. The book is divided into 12 sections which include basic science, epidemiology, type 1 diabetes mellitus, gestational diabetes mellitus, comorbidities, complications, drugs and therapeutics, paramedical care in diabetes, Indian research, newer technologies, newer guidelines, and future directions. This book provides a great knowledge tool for physicians, postgraduates, and researchers.
