Abstract

This chapter describes the thoracic, chest, and abdomen, which includes thoracic intra-articular facet injection, thoracic medial branch block and radiofrequency ablation, and thoracic epidural steroid injection (parasagittal approach). Thoracic spondylosis and mid axial back pain without radicular symptoms are indications of thoracic intra-articular facet injection. Thoracic spondylosis, facet arthrosis, and axial back pain without radicular symptoms are the indications of thoracic medial branch block and radiofrequency ablation. Thoracic radiculopathy ± axial back pain, thoracic spinal stenosis, and treatment or prevention of postherpetic neuralgia are the different indications of thoracic epidural steroid injection. Intercostal nerve blocks, splanchnic nerve block (retrocrural technique), and celiac plexus block (transcrural technique) are also given in this chapter.
