Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to focus on the cardiodiabetic diet. Key factors for the prevention and management of cardiodiabetic diet are maintenance of body weight, healthy eating practices, and regular exercise. It is important to control and maintain body weight. The best way to assess the body weight is by body mass index (BMI). Obesity cut-offs for Asian Indians normal weight range is 20–23, overweight greater than 23, obese greater than 25. It is advisable to keep BMI in the normal weight range. This chapter covers the world health organization dietary guidelines on “healthy eating”, special situations requiring dietary modification, and other dietary components.
