Abstract

This chapter deals with the discussion over scales used for neurological assessment. Mini-mental state examination (MMSE) includes questions in the order listed. Score one point for each correct response within each question or activity. Instructions for administration and scoring of the MMSE are defined in this chapter. The Berg Balance Scale (BBS) was developed to measure balance among older people with impairment in balance function by assessing the performance of functional tasks. Tinetti balance assessment tool, the Barthel Index, functional independence measureTM and functional assessment measure, Fugl-Meyer assessment of physical performance, functional reach test and modified functional, reach instructions, score sheet, gait assessment rating scale, Beck’s Depression Inventory, fatigue severity scale, etc. are some other important topics which are discussed broadly in this chapter.
