Hematopathology Pearls

by Da Zhang

The goal of this book is providing a concise outline for the review of hematopathology. Hematopathology morphology performs complete blood counts (CBC) and analyzes cellular morphology in peripheral blood and some body fluids. The laboratory also performs a wide range of cytochemical stains. This book consists of 15 chapters, which include hematopoiesis and hematology testing, disorders of red blood cells, disorders of platelets and coagulation factors, disorders of non-neoplastic white blood cells, normal lymph node, thymus and lymphoid hyperplasia, spleen, myelodysplastic syndromes, acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphomas, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, lymphoproliferative disorders associated with immunodeficiencies and post-transplantations, flow cytometry, and molecular pathology. The book is not intended to be a textbook for pathologists. Rather, it is an overview and study guide for medical students, residents and fellows to use during their training and preparation for board examinations.
