Abstract

Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSR) is an idiopathic disorder of the outer blood-retinal barrier, causing serous macular detachment. Central serous chorioretinopathy usually affects males who are exposed to psychological stress, mostly between 20 years and 50 years of age. Risk factors include stress, pregnancy, local and systemic corticosteroid usage, hypertension, allergic diseases and Cushing’s syndrome. Differential diagnosis includes idiopathic polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (IPCV), retinal pigment epithelial detachment with choroidal neovascular membrane, optic disk pit, peripheral choroidal tumors, rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, and choroidal inflammations.
