This chapter describes the normas of skull. Norma means view. Norma frontalis means viewing the anterior aspect of skull. This chapter covers the norma frontalis, orbital cavity, norma verticalis, norma occipitalis, norma lateralis, and norma basalis. Orbital cavity is a pair of bony cavities situated one on either side of root of nose in the skull. It contains eyeball and associated muscles, nerves, vessels and lymphatics. The lateral view of skull is called as norma lateralis. Bones visible are frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital, nasal, maxilla, zygoma, sphenoid, and mandible. After the detachment of mandible, the inferior surface of base of skull is the norma basalis. It extends from alveolar arch in front to superior nuchal line behind.
