This chapter discusses the preventive as well as breakdown maintenance, followed by the calibration of the devices and generation of records. Preventive maintenance schedules are prepared by the maintenance department and preventive maintenance is carried out as per the schedule. These jobs done are recorded in history card maintained for each equipment/device (unit wise). In case of breakdown maintenance inform the incharge or the biomedical engineer, who further logs the requirement of maintenance or repair in the breakdown register. All the equipment is calibrated and maintained using a calibration sticker. It mentions the name of the equipment, type, date of calibration done, serial number, location, applicable calibration requirements and calibration due date is documented. The calibration status is updated periodically. The records are generated by using the AMC sticker, history card, instruments requiring calibration and the calibration sticker.
