Abstract

This chapter discusses the planning and procurement of equipment. All departments are equipped with most of the advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment needed for the tertiary care for various services provided at the hospital. Equipment selection is a collaborative process at hospital. In equipment selection there is involvement of end user, the management, finance, and engineering and biomedical departments. All old and new equipment details are maintained in an inventory with the Manager-Procurement along with provision for recording details of annual maintenance contracts (AMCs), breakdowns and servicing of equipment. All findings, observations, deviations from normal practice are documented in the minutes of the meeting for Audit.
