Abstract

These chapter discuses about the outbreak of infection and how to manage the same conditions. Recognition of an outbreak may be difficult, therefore medical and nursing staff must be vigilant at all times and report any suspected infection to the infection control committee. If two or more patients are identified with similar signs and symptoms of a communicable disease or infection or it is confirmed from the laboratory reports, the clinical staff must immediately notify ICN. In the event of a minor outbreak the ICN will continue surveillance and monitor progress, compliance with contact and the isolation precautions and the enhanced environmental cleaning of the affected area.
