Hysteroscopy procedure has now become the gold standard for diagnosis of intrauterine pathology. Modern hysteroscopy has attained various facets to it. It has widened its arms to incorporate various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Microhysteroscopy, contact hysteroscopy, and office hysteroscopy have made the procedure more complaint and have also immensely increased its avenue as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool. The microhysteroscope was developed by Hamou in France in 1979 and has been approved for use in the United States since 1981. The recently develop microhysteroscope that offers a combination of panoramic hysteroscopy, contact hysteroscopy, and microhysteroscopy. Contact hysteroscopy is an endoscopic technique that enables visualization of the uterine interior without distension of the uterine cavity, as is required with conventional hysteroscopy.
