Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is a common problem among women in the reproductive age. AUB may be accompanied by pain and discomfort, has a substantial effect on health-related quality of life, and causes significant social embarrassment. AUB leads to loss of productivity and may result in surgical interventions including hysterectomy. Diagnosis of AUB requires meticulous history taking, thorough clinical examination, necessary investigations and imaging. Overgrowth of cells in the lining of the uterus (endometrium) leads to the formation of uterine polyps, also known as endometrial polyps. These polyps are usually premalignant, although some can be malignant.
