Abstract

This chapter describes basics of fetal neurosonogram in the question and answer format. Fetal neurosonogram is the systematic evaluation of fetal brain by ultrasonography to determine the normality or diagnose abnormality, keeping in consideration the physiological changes as per the gestational age. Central nervous system (CNS) malformations are some of the most common of all congenital abnormalities. Also they are some of the most devastating birth defects seen. Affected infants may have profound developmental delay, seizure disorders, cerebral palsy, and blindness. Important aspects of fetal brain evaluations are gestational age, artefacts, and correctness of the plane.
