Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to introduce the dermatology. This chapter is divided into four parts, which include acne vulgaris, alopecia areata, atopic dermatitis, and impetigo. The clinical subtype, severity, prior treatment, psychological impact, and presence of scarring should be considered for all patients with acne. Comedonal versus inflammatory acne (papular/pustular) requires distinct therapeutic approaches. The most important aspect of the management of a child with atopic eczema is sympathetic explanation of the nature of condition to the parents. For limited skin involvement, topical antibiotic treatment is first-line and there is evidence that it may be superior to systemic therapy.
