Abstract

This chapter describes choroidal imaging with enhanced depth imaging and swept-source optical coherence tomography. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a rapidly evolving imaging modality that has become a mainstay of the clinical and experimental ophthalmology practice. This technology uses light waves to generate a reflectivity versus depth profile of ocular structures. The technology has evolved rapidly from the first-generation time domain (TD) OCT machines of the early 1990s to the high-resolution spectral-domain (SD) machines of today. Modern OCT technology allows for reliable imaging of the choroid. This chapter covers the imaging of the normal choroid, EDI and SS-OCT imaging in glaucoma, choroidal imaging in central serous chorioretinopathy, choroidal imaging in uveitis, choroidal imaging in age-related macular degeneration, choroidal changes in retinal vein occlusions, choroidal imaging in myopic eyes, choroidal changes in inherited retinal degenerations, and retinal and choroidal tumors imaged with OCT.
