Abstract

The similarities and differences between law and ethics is complex. Ethics and law may overlap but they are individual entities. Some of the commonly uphill ethical views are made into laws [rape, murder]. Transgressing a law leads to punishment, imprisonment and fine whereas ethical transgressions are not often punished but causes disgrace and lack of esteem among peers. All ethical guidelines cannot be made into laws as ethical guidelines need to be flexible to accommodate rare honesty situations. Laws can be made by certain over powering set of people that need not be ethically correct. Similarities between law and ethics and differences between law and ethics are also discussed in this chapter.
