Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to introduce the safe practices for better healthcare. With technological advances and improved medical understanding, medical errors have also increased. And hence the adverse effects due to medical errors constitute a major burden all over the world. This chapter covers the safe practices regarding specificity, effectiveness, benefits, generalizabilty, and readiness. The practice must be a clearly and precisely defined process or manner of providing a healthcare service. Candidate safe practices that met the threshold criterion of specificity were then rated against the remaining four additional criteria relating to the likelihood of the practice improving patient safety.
