Abstract

Genetics plays the key role in infertility, both in primary and secondary, hence proper counseling and investigations of the patients help the clinician as well as the patient to decide the appropriate assisted reproductive technique (ART). Infertility is the major problem amongst Indian population. Approximately 15% of the couples are infertile of which 50% comes from the males and 50% from females. Genetics plays a big role in infertility. There are two types of genetic defects—chromosomal and gene mutation. In case of female infertility could be categorized into primary and secondary. The examples of primary infertility are Turner’s syndrome or variant and premature ovarian failure (POF).
