by Isabella Doche, Patricia Damasco, Giselle Martins

The aim of this book is to focus on the fundamentals of hair and scalp dermoscopy. Hair and scalp dermoscopy (trichoscopy) is a fast and noninvasive technique that allows the identification of hair and scalp diseases on the basis of analysis of trichoscopy structures and patterns without the need for removing hair for diagnostic purposes or unnecessary biopsies. This book consists of 17 chapters, which include normal scalp, devices for hair and scalp dermoscopy, trichoscopy patterns and tips to enhance your exam, nonscarring alopecias, scarring alopecias, inflammatory scalp disorders, systemic diseases, infections and infestations, alopecia during childhood, genetic skin diseases, autoimmune bullous disorders, hair shaft disorders, eyebrows and eyelashes disorders, nonmelanocytic scalp tumors, melanocytic scalp tumors, and pearls and pitfalls. This book inspires the readers to make new discoveries and also share their experiences in this fascinating field of hair diseases.
