This book focuses on recent advances in ophthalmology–14. Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine dealing with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the eye and visual system. The eye, its surrounding structures and the visual system can be affected by a number of clinical conditions. This book consists of 21 chapters, which include management of Post-LASIK ectasia, recent advances in lamellar keratoplasty, keratopigmentation, ocular blood flow in glaucoma, selective laser trabeculoplasty, shunts in the management of intractable glaucoma, recent advances in intraocular lens power calculation, custom cataract surgery, astigmatism management in cataract surgery, pseudoexfoliation cataract, posterior capsular rupture recognition and management, phacoemulsification in subluxated lenses, scleral-fixated intraocular lenses, optical coherence tomography in diabetic retinopathy, necrotizing retinopathies, nyctalopia, management of ocular burns, and cerebral angiography in neuro-ophthalmology. The chapter on the role of spectral domain-optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in the evaluation of diabetic retinopathy highlights the importance of examination of vitreomacular interface and inner and outer layers of retina. Hopefully, the postgraduate students, residents and general ophthalmologists will utilize the knowledge from this book for the better care of their patients.
