Role Play in MRCP-PACES

Practice assessment of clinical examination skills (PACES) is designed to assess a physician’s clinical, diagnostic, medicolegal, and communication skills in close to real-life scenarios with a real patient. This is a one volume text giving candidates complete preparation for the PACES examination within one portable volume. Here around 200 cases are organized into the five stations of the PACES exam involving respiratory, cardiovascular, abdominal, neurology examination, communication and ethics, history taking as well as clinical consultation. Engaging question and answer approach between candidate and surrogate/patient and candidate and examiner—Just as a role play in our real-life practice to pass the exam. The format lends itself to individual study and group role play, which will stimulate dialogue around the theme introduced. Exploring the themes and topics presented in each of the cases in accordance with the framework will equip candidates with the necessary skills to negotiate the PACES process. This book is primarily intended to help candidates prepare for MRCP-PACES. Many undergraduate medical students and other postgraduate examinations (such as FCPS and MD) have adopted a similar assessment model.
