Health-care providers and Obstetricians-gynecologists see victims of violence every day in their hospitals, clinics, and offices. Unfortunately, too often they are not trained to speak about violence with their patients and in many instances women are reluctant to admit that they have been victims of violence, especially sexual violence, because they are afraid, or feel ashamed. It is for this reason that Medical Associations must move decisively to change a situation that helps only the perpetrators of violence.
