Abstract

The chapter first deals with the method of dealing with the patients by nurses. The relatives also have to be dealt with. The nurse also has to be in a position to explain to the relatives/patients about the procedure. She has to deal with the day surgical cases which are not as easy as it seems. She may be called in to talk to cases that are to be rehabilitated. Her real skill is tested when she deals with trauma cases. Giving the instructions and, more difficult, changing the attitude of them towards the false beliefs. She may be called to deal with the out patients cases, look after the admission process, supervise the triage in the casualty, take care of the emergency cases and finally with the ward work. Preparing cases for operation and taking care of them after the surgery fall into her field of work. At the same time she has to take her of her own health and welfare. All these are dealt with in this chapter. The chapter closes with explanation of certain terms.
