The book “Handbook of Mechanical Ventilation” elucidates mechanical ventilation and procedures and it can be served as comprehensive guide to respiratory therapists, physiotherapists and paramedical staff to practice in hospital. This book is divided into 14 chapters mainly focusing on mechanical ventilation. The basic of pulmonary anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology are discussed in detail. Mechanical ventilation is a process which was developed in the 16th century. This technique is used as artificial breathing process to those who can’t breathe naturally. Struggling in breathing may be caused by cardiac arrest, neurological disease the effect of anesthetic drugs. This book also describes the use of mechanical ventilation in various pulmonary diseases, chest trauma and cardiac diseases. Indications, different modes, initiation and monitoring process of mechanical ventilation are clearly explained in a simple ways for better understanding. Mechanical ventilation can be used from minutes to few weeks depends on the patient conditions. Ventilator graphics is widely used to manage the mechanical ventilation patients based on the flow, pressure and volume. This book also discusses about airway management, noninvasive ventilation, pulmonary rehabilitation and chest physiotherapy.
