Dupuytren’s disease is a fibromatous disease affecting the palmar and digital fascia. It leads to progressive contracture and flexion of the affected digit, or digits, at the metacarpophalangeal joint (MCPJ) and the interphalangeal joints (IPJs). Other fibromatoses include Peyronie’s disease (penile) and Ledderhose disease. Dupuytren’s disease, often referred to as “Viking’s disease”, has a strong genetic component, and is associated with alcoholism and diabetes mellitus. The objective of this chapter is to cover a broad discussion on epidemiology, pathophysiology, anatomy, clinical presentation, disease classification and treatment of Dupuytren’s disease.
