Abstract

This chapter aims to present a brief discussion on the surgical anatomy of the wrist. The forearm and hand are linked to each other by the wrist. The wrist extends from the distal edge of pronator quadratus muscle on the volar aspect of radius, proximally, to the carpometacarpal (CMC) joints, distally. Thus, the wrist helps in transfer of all motions and forces of the hand to forearm. It consists of distal radius, distal ulna, two rows of carpals and five metacarpal bases. General anatomy of wrist including ligamentous anatomy and anatomical considerations have been given in this chapter.
