Abstract

The glenohumeral joint is the most complex joint in the body and combined with the scapulothoracic, sternoclavicular, and acromioclavicular joints, comprise the shoulder joint complex. The scapula is a most vital structure that provides stability to the shoulder joint. Scapulothoracic rhythm is normal tracking of scapula which ensures smooth movement of the greater tuberosity under the acromion without pain or impingement. Scapulohumeral rhythm is influenced by posture and adaptively shortened muscles. A large part of the success of the Pune Shoulder Rehabilitation Program (PSRP) has been due to accurate diagnosis and referral of the correct patients for rehabilitation. PSRP basically is the essence of shoulder rehabilitation and divided into three phases. A broad discussion on the principle of PSRP and core exercises such as inferior capsular stretch, scapular stabilization exercises, scapular clock, cuff substitution program, static exercises, etc. have been provided in this chapter.
