This book “Illustrated Surgery—A Road Map” is based on illustrations, most of the diseases are described in an illustrative manner, less text more illustrations. This book consists of total 32 chapters. First chapter focuses on wound healing and covers classification of wound, types and phases of wound healing, role of growth factors in healing, wound closure techniques and treatment of wound. Fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balance are described in second chapter. Third chapter presents a discussion on evaluation to assess risk of bleeding during surgery, congenital and acquired hemorrhagic disorders, hemorrhage, and transfusion of blood and its components. A brief discussion on gallbladder and extrahepatic biliary system have been presented in fourth chapter. Diseases of the liver and pancreas are covered in fifth and sixth chapter. Seventh chapter covers a discussion on spleen. The aim of eighth chapter is to present a discussion on congenital defects of abdominal wall, peritoneum and peritoneal cavity, mesentery, omentum and retroperitoneum. The objective of ninth chapter is to present a brief discussion on the diseases of stomach along with their treatments. Intestine, appendix, rectum and anal canal, breast, thyroid, and parathyroid, adrenal, endocrine pancreas and multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) are covered in chapter ten to fifteen. Trauma is characterized by a structural alteration and/or physiologic imbalance that results when energy is imported or vital functions compromised during interaction with physical or chemical agents. Chapter sixteen presents a broad discussion of trauma. Burn, arterial diseases, venous diseases and diseases of lymphatics, hernia, diseases of the testes, scrotum, penis, esophagus and salivary gland, skin and adnexal lesion, urology, nerve injury, surgery of hand, neck swelling, cleft lip and palate, anesthesia, and surgical instruments are the other topics which are covered in the remaining chapters of this book.
