This book “Monogram Chronic Diarrhea” provides a systematic approach to patients presenting with the most common causes of chronic diarrhea. Chronic diarrhea is a big burden and has a considerable effect on health as well as on social and economic wellbeing. It not only has this, but patients with celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease and other prolonged diarrheal illnesses develop nutritional deficiencies also that diminish growth and immunity of the person. This affects social interaction resulting in the loss of many working hours and money. This book is comprise total 15 chapters. The first and second chapters deals with the approach to a patient with chronic diarrhea and guidelines for the investigations in a patient with chronic diarrhea. The third chapter discusses the tropical sprue, celiac disease and intestinal parasites. The fourth and five chapters describes the chronic pancreatitis and chronic diarrhea in lymphoma. The sixth chapter focuses on the secretory diarrhea and allied conditions. The seventh and eighth chapters are discusses the inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal tuberculosis. The ninth and tenth chapters describes the intestinal amebiasis and chronic diarrhea in the immunocompromised host. Eleventh and twelfth chapters deals with neuroendocrine and endocrine causes of diarrhea, and ischemic causes of diarrhea. Thirteenth and fourteenth chapters discusses on the Irritable bowel syndrome and miscellaneous conditions causing chronic diarrhea. Finally, the last chapter discusses the metabolic consequences in chronic diarrhea.
