Review of Psychiatry

The objective of this book is to introduce the psychiatry. Psychiatry is the branch of medicine which deals with morbid psychological processes. Psychiatry is quite different from mainstream medical specialties and poses unique challenges when the novice medical graduate is attempting to understand these concepts. Psychiatry is also a fast evolving science and the recent introduction of DSM-5 has led to several diagnostic revisions. It consists of 13 chapters. Chapter 1 discusses of basics of psychiatry. Chapter 2–10 includes schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders, mood disorders, neurotic, stress related and somatoform disorders, substance related and addictive disorders, organic mental disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, sleep disorders, and sexual disorders. Chapter 11 discusses child psychiatry. Psychoanalysis is discusses in 12 chapter. Miscellaneous are discusses in 13 chapter. This book also discusses in the question and answer format. This book has been written keeping in mind the needs of students preparing for various postgraduate entrance examinations and MCI screening test. Another important aspect of this book is that it has been fully updated with DSM-5. In DSM-5, a large number of new diagnoses have been introduced and diagnostic criterions of many existing disorders have been changed.
