Brain & Neurological Disorders: A Simplified Health Education Guide

by Sudhir V Shah, Heli S Shah

Just as without a good driver a vehicle will not run safely and smoothly, the neurological systems guided by brain play an equally vital role in our health. An adverse health episode does not affect just the patient; but the entire family, friends, and acquaintances come under strain as well. Through this book “Brain & Neurological Disorders: A Simplified Health Education Guide” is hoped to reach to the readers at all levels, i.e. the doctors, health workers, nurses, paramedics, counselors, medical students and the public at large. This book comprises of total 27 chapters. The first chapter begins with an overview of the nervous system, followed by the important topic of neuroradiology where computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging have assumed great significance in the diagnosis and management of neurological illnesses today. Stroke, epilepsy, headache, central nervous system infections, movement disorders, demyelinating disorders, neuromuscular diseases, and other topics have all been covered extensively. In the concluding chapters, the authors have listed the important side effects of commonly used medicines for neurological disorders and also given very useful tips to remember for a hospitalized patient. Each chapter begins with a memorable quotation, followed by key points and a brief historical description. At the end of the chapter, we find “pearls of wisdom” to give us the essence of the chapter.
