Tips and Tricks in Procedural Dermatology: Efficient and Effective Approaches to Achieving Optimal Diagnostic and Therapeutic Results

by Robert T Brodell, Stephen E Helms, Michael T Cosulich, Jeremy D Jackson, William Abramovits, Ashish C Bhatia, Jennifer Schulmeier

This book describes the tips and tricks in procedural dermatology: efficient and effective approaches to achieving optimal diagnostic and therapeutic results. This book is not just about surgery per se, but other types of dermatologic procedures, including office dermatologic testing, light based procedures, cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, as well as the “bread and butter” techniques of biopsies, elliptical excisions, curettage, and suturing. The concept is to teach efficiency, simplicity, effectiveness, and consistency. It is about achieving a practical approach to dermatological procedures that can be performed during a busy day in a dermatologist’s office. This book is divided into 6 parts following as diagnostic tips and tricks, chemical destruction of skin lesions, complex surgical procedures, cryosurgery and cryotherapy, light-based procedures, and photodynamic therapy, which is further divided into 3 sections and 19 chapters. The book is organized by procedure and referenced to support the concepts that are presented. The book is designed, however, to help even fully-trained dermatologists identify practical variations to their routine techniques that can be introduced immediately and will prove to be invaluable in their daily clinical work.
