Trichoscopy: A Text and Atlas

by Subrata Malakar

Trichoscopy is fast gaining hold in daily clinical practice of dermatologists across India and the world. This book “Trichoscopy: A Text and Atlas” is written by the trichoscopy enthusiasts with a vision to help and enhance structured and step-by-step practice of trichoscopy by the students and practitioners. The idea of this book was conceived when the authors saw that there was a dearth of work and data related to trichoscopy in the skin of color and the absence of proper teaching modules related to the same. This book was envisioned as a ready-reckoner and a basic step-by-step module that helped to arrive at a trichoscopic diagnosis of a particular condition. This book comprises of total 19 sections which are further divided into 34 chapters. The chapters and the extent of the book have been designed in a way to help learn the basics and thus form a strong foundation for going onto advanced learning. Focusing more on the ‘why’ than the ‘what’ has been maintained in all sections of the book. At a glance images with descriptive legends provide a one glance information to the reader regarding a topic. The self-assessment queries incorporated at the end of each section will help the reader to assess his recognition power of the trichoscopic structures thus making him more and more adept to practicing trichoscopy in day to day clinical practice. The repetitions regarding certain terminologies in this book are intentional for better comprehensive understanding of the reader.
