Abstract

This chapter aims to recapitulates the role of trichoscopy in autoimmune connective tissue diseases (AI-CTD). These are group of diseases characterized by unregulated immune activation against self-antigens leading to inflammation of the connective tissues. The disease manifests with either cutaneous or systemic features or both. Diffuse non-scarring alopecia shows trichoscopic features of acute telogen effluvium. In dermatomyositis, features of acute telogen effluvium may be seen. Non-scarring diffuse alopecia may show polymorphous interfollicular vessels. There are 15 clinical images provided in this chapter which are very helpful for readers in understanding the trichoscopic features in common AI-CTD described in the chapter.
