Antianginal is medicines that are used in the treatment of angina pectoris, a symptom of ischaemic heart disease. Antianginals includes beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, and nitrates. Beta-blockers include atenolol, labetalol, metoprolol, and propranolol. Calcium channel blockers include diltiazem, felodipine, nifedipine, and verapamil. Nitrates include isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and nitroglycerine. Uses, dosages, and side effects of antianginals are also discussed in this chapter. Common side effects of antianginals are fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea, postural hypotension, erectile dysfunction, bronchospasm. Serious side effects include bradycardia, CHF, pulmonary edema, arrhythmias.
