A hematinic is a nutrient required for the formation of blood cells in the process of hematopoiesis. The main hematinics are iron, B12, and folate. Hematinics and Hematopoietics include hormones, iron supplements, and vitamins. These drugs either increases quantity or quality of RBC production. Hormones include erythropoietin and nandrolone decoanate. Vitamins include cyanocobalamin or vitamin B12 and folic acid.
