Abstract

Anticoagulants are medicines that help prevent blood clots. They\'re given to people at a high risk of getting clots, to reduce their chances of developing serious conditions such as strokes and heart attacks. Anticoagulant includes heparin, low molecular weight heparins, dalteparin, enoxaparin, and warfarin. Uses dosages, and side effects of all these drugs are also discussed in this chapter. Common side effects are diarrhea, rash, fever, anemia, and hepatitis. Serious side effects are bleeding, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia.
